Independent evidence, generated where the programme actually operates.

Evidence is only useful if someone outside the programme would reach the same conclusion from the same data. That is a design question, settled long before the first interview takes place: sampling, indicator definition, enumerator control, data flow.

We design MEAL systems, run the surveys and conduct the evaluations, including in places a funder cannot visit. Third-party monitoring and independent verification sit as a separate line of work with separate staff, precisely because the value of that work is its independence.

Powered samples, documented methods

A sample that cannot support the claim is worse than no sample at all. Sampling frames, weighting and confidence intervals are stated rather than implied.
